Research Visit by Dr. Jakub
Kronenberg
At the end of September we hosted a visitor
from Poland – Jakub Kronenberg. Jakub holds a Ph.D. in economics
and works as a lecturer in the
Department of International Economics at the University of
Lodz. His research activities focus on sustainable development
with his current research projects mostly focused on ecosystem
services (e.g. payments for ecosystem services and valuation of
birds). At NTNU he gave guest lectures in Environmental
Management and Corporate Social Responsibility course (TIØ4195)
run by the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology
Management. The lectures referred to the challenges of
sustainable development in transition economies (example of
Poland), and to sustainable business and systems thinking. The
lectures were based on the recent book that Jakub edited,
Challenges of Sustainable Development in Poland (published
by the Sendzimir Foundation in 2010).
A seminar was organized to exchange
information about research on CSR and sustainable development at
NTNU and in the groups within which Dr. Kronenberg is working.
The latter include the
Sendzimir Foundation focused on sustainability education in
Poland (with its flagship three-week-long international summer
academy) and the
Centre for Systems Solutions that carries out research on
systems thinking and does system dynamics modeling. During his
stay at NTNU Jakub also visited other departments (economics)
and took part in the conference
Can and should all countries become democracies? organized
by the NTNU Globalization Research Programme. |
